Fight for minimum wages in Central Excise, Bhilai & Census department, Raipur

The “Right Thinking Indians Association, Raipur, Chhattisgarh has made a Complaint about less payment by Contractors to the Daily wages workers by the Contractors of Central Excise Division-I & II and Census Department, Raipur outsourced by the Govt Departments. Shri D.K Singh Dy Commissioner of Labour Office, Raipur has taken cognizance of the complaint made by “Right Thinking Indians Association, Raipur, Chhattisgarh” and desired that Association should meet the Labour Enforcement Officer.

Accordingly, Shri Arun Pati, President of the State Association and Shri Mukesh Gindone, Secretary of the Raipur District met Shri Nayak, the Labour Commissioner and discussed in detail about the plight of the daily wages workers and payment of less wages prescribed by the District Collector. Shri Nayak assured the Association that he will conduct a speedy investigation of the matter in both the cases.

Our Organisation is not like INTUC, AITUC etc. What we talk, we talk from our heart and implement the same. It is our strong will & determination that we give the laborers the much needed and long awaited justice which they deserve. Nobody is giving them any mercy. It is their right. Only we are trying to do the needful.

People's strength is the ultimate strngth

Labour Department has been established for the benefit of labourers and field officers of the labour department is expected to see whether welfare scheme of the Govt is implemented or otherwise. Out of several schemes, the most important scheme is implementation of minimum amount of wages to daily wages labourers. Shri B.R Lodhi, president of RTIA, Raipur, Chhattisgarh has sought information about action taken by the labour department against the persons who has violated labour laws and has done injustice to the labourers. In the past, we have undertaken a good attempt to implement the minimum wages fixed by District Collector of Durg & Raipur. The field officer during the Enquiry found the truth in allegation of payment of half the wages fixed by the said District Authority but ultimately the labour Commissioner gave his decision in favour of the greedy contractor. I appreciate (!) the capability of the contractor as he managed the biggest officer of the labour Deptt. I do not give much mark to our loving (!) labour Commissioner as he agreed in the unholy verbal contract with the said Contractor in exchange of RS 2000/- only. It happens only in India. The labourers for whom we r struggling is a dumb and at this stage he cannot fight for himself. So, outside support is required and his strength for fighting is required to be developed. The “Right Thinking Indians Association” has been formed for specific jobs like this one described above. Sitting in coffee house is just 4r interaction and discussion on vital issues affecting us.
